Rallying

MUCC was represented by three teams: Rohan and James Teagle, Peter Otzen & Paul Franklin and Graham Pate & Cale Pearce. Results were in order of problems.

Peter's Datsun developed a fuel leak - the banjo joint of the rear weber decided to come undone mid stage [I love the smell of petrol in the afternoon!]. Despite spraying fuel into the engine bay above the exhaust there was, thankfully, no fire.

Graham's Datsun decided to cut power to the coil [again?]. a resourceful Cale was able to restore power, fitting a "hot-wire". Even did it via the Thermatic Fan power supply so it could be turned off easily as well!! The 30 minutes to fix it really puts a dent in the results of a Special Stage event. There will be the time from the second pass of the stage to assess "what might have been".

Rohan had the hardest day. Air in the brake lines was driven around. A rear shocker decided to break on the first Transport [fixed at service after the first 5 stages], and finally an axle decided that its working life was over.

Peter

Most disappointing result would have to be for Eddie Maquire, bringing his car over from Tasmania to the event, to have it not start on leaving the service after SS5. Eddie was winning by over 50 seconds! Later investigation revealed copious amounts of water in the fuel. Maybe someone inadvertently filled the tank from the wrong jerry can?!?!
