| « Gen X/Ys better than Baby Boomers and Old Farts! | MUCCing about at DECA » |
(Compiled by Paul Franklin)
Rather than put together the usual chronological report about what happened at Shepparton, I thought it would be better to collate the various postings to the MUCC e-group. This report then serves two purposes:
Post One
from the totally unbiased President and Clerk of Course for the weekend.
“What a day; what a weekend! The inaugural motorsport extravaganza went off with a bang! Three crews tried the Treasure hunt, 4 the economy test - while several partners opted for the private tour via the wineries for lunch. 15 people attended dinner at Cellar 47 - 14 of them MUCC members. Nine more members came up for Sunday. Like to see that percentage of members turn out for many other clubs!!! 15 runners took on the challenge of the DECA facility, with only one incident interfering with the days enjoyment”.

Post Two
from the coolest hand behind a video camera while another club member almost rolls your pride and joy
“Big thanks to the organisers of the Shepparton Shenanigans for a fun and value-for-money weekend! DECA was a great venue, just a pity about the armco though :-( Here's a short clip of Matt trying to turn turtle the 1600.”
Post Three
from the club member who almost rolled the car belonging to the owner of Post Two
“Great day at DECA today. Thanks to everyone that let me drive their cars. When I get the VL out next you can have a go at thrashing it in return, but no Cale, that does not mean you have to attempt repeating my stunt driving...”
Post Four
from a member who always remembers his manners.
“I agree completely it was a great weekend for club members and friends (though I missed the social bits on Saturday). I realised just after I had left that I had not thanked Ros, Natasha (and also Andrea?) - non competitors and non officials who nevertheless were there and provided that essential ingredient – LUNCH. Thanks ladies”
Post Five
from a club member who has only over inflated tyres to worry about.
“Not much left but for me to echo others' comments at this stage. Thanks to Peter and Paul (where's Mary?) for organising. Thanks to Ros and Tash for organising Lunch. Thanks to the timing team and field crew - Darren, Robin, Brian & Alf. Thanks to Dave and Paul for letting me have a go in their respective toys. Thanks to Tash for shadowing me home in the Liberty. and finally...Thanks to my not thinking about letting the tyres down (until it was too late), I now have to retrieve my eyeballs from the floor of the Civic after driving home with 38psi in the tyres!”
Post Six
from a sometimes club member who wished he was there and not in Denver
“Sensational”!
Post Seven
from a club member whose son now wants to drive Dad’s manual car more often.
“Thanks to the organizers for a great day - good to just have only friends involved. And thanks to the lady’s for Lunch and for waiting around for their “men folk”. And the timekeepers for both “timekeeping” and generating the Income to allow the Club to put it on. The track was really good fun and also the skid pan – a bit more water would be interesting. I will certainly be voting for an annual pilgrimage. Alex had a great time – his first ever event and first time in a manual car – thanks Cale for riding shotgun and keeping him on the black stuff – we both really appreciate that”.
Post Eight
from the club member who came home with the most work to do.
“Thanks to Brian for his work in making a 2 hour drive to Shep last all day [and into the night for some of us!. Lovely dinner and chat Saturday night. Also to Peter and Paul, Alf and Darren for their efforts at DECA. Thanks to Zoe for all that extra work I didn't need! And thanks to Mike for the much needed loan of a trailer. We'll be back next time for a bit more experience!”
This was an entirely enjoyable and successful weekend of club motorsport. I think that every member that was there would do it again given the opportunity. I’m the organisers have already thought of a few improvements that will make the weekend even better, if we do it again.
