As you will be aware this has been a relatively wet winter, with consistent rains in most of Eastern Australia, and in the region of the Trial. This means that the ground became soaked such that the heavy rainfall over the past three weeks, which covered the entire course, Forests NSW, the Shires and the property owners have advised us that many of the roads will be impassable for the next three to four weeks, even if the rain stopped. More is predicted.

After considering a number of factors, including of course time to allow the significant standing water that has occurred over the past week to drain away, and the roads and tracks to dry out, together with major sporting activities in September and early October and accommodation availability in the towns the Trial visits (some of which have major activities over the coming weekends) it has been decided to postpone the Classic Outback Trial to 10 – 16 October 2010.

Entries were due to close today Friday 13 August and will now close on Friday 1 October 2010.

We are disappointed but have made this decision to allow the event to be run in its entirety.

More information regarding the trial will be sent out in the next newsletter.

Final call for acceptances for the MUCC inaugural dinner.
To be held at Sketches in Burwood on Wednesday 25 August.
While the restaurant is small the food is above average as those who attended last years nosh nite can attest.
The Club is subsidising the dinner so you only pay $20 per person for 3 courses including tea/coffee plus whatever you drink.
We have 17 acceptances to date and still need more to fill our quota.

The 2010 CAMS CARnival, planned for October 1st – 4th has been postponed until May 2011.

Given the short lead time into the event, we have been unable to attract the interest required that is deserving of such an important event for CAMS and its Clubs.

Michael Smith of CAMS said “CAMS is fully supportive of CARnival and much work has already gone into planning and organising the event. It is unfortunate that we have had to make this decision but the overall level of interest is not what we require to ensure a successful event for the entrants, visitors into the region and the local community of Echuca-Moama. CAMS believe the CARnival format will be a success but that the timing of this inaugural event is better suited to May 2011”.

The decision has been made in consultation with key partner Echuca-Moama Tourism (EMT).

Pete White, General Manager of Events from EMT said “It is disappointing that we have to postpone the event this year, but given the current level of registrations, this is the right decision. I am confident that the move to May 2011 will be supported by our existing commercial partners and we look forward to the region hosting the event”.
